The New York Health Act is state legislation that will provide comprehensive, universal guaranteed healthcare for everyone who lives (or works full time) in New York, replacing existing private insurance company coverage. You and your healthcare providers determine the care you need. New York Health pays the bill. This plan provides comprehensive medical care, including dental, mental health, hearing, gender-affirming & long-term care.
With the New York Health Act, ALL New Yorkers will automatically have their healthcare covered by a public statewide fund, regardless of age, employment, immigration status, disability, race, gender, or financial means. Everyone will have free healthcare.
The New York Health Act:
- Guarantees health care to everyone living or working in New York
- Covers dental, vision, hearing, mental health, medications, and long-term care
- Covers all doctors and providers — everyone is “in network”
- Allows workers to change jobs or start their own businesses without worrying about loss of coverage
- Everyone is in the same plan, including our elected officials!
- Eliminates role of health insurance companies (NY State pays all health costs)
- Lowers administrative costs from around 30% to around 3%
- Increases payments to health care professionals
- Eliminates premiums, co-pays, deductibles and prescription costs—No medical bills, no medical debt
- Financed with a simple, sliding-scale tax
- The richest 5% of New Yorkers will pay more than now
- The rest of us will pay less—first $25K in income is tax exempt (first $50K for those on Medicare)
